“It is your business,” Helen said. They entered their bedroom and she turned her husband to face her. “Not because Randal is a freelancer that we hire from time to time. It’s your business because he’s part of our team. If any one of them disappeared, you would look into it. Not because you hire them for a job, but because you care about them.”
“Randal’s different; he can take care of himself.” He turned to walk away, but Helen wouldn’t let him.
“He is different. Which means he needs us more than anyone. Because he doesn’t have anyone else.”
