“The concept appeared over fifty years ago,” Sprite continued, eyes toward the sky, guns still ready, waiting. “A half dozen different models were quickly distributed, but it wasn’t more than a year before they had all been deemed completely worthless. They’re nothing more than ornaments now, lawn statues, knick knacks. They aren’t meant to be made operational!”

Sprite did not turn from the sky, but Scotty flinched anyway.

Helen also kept watch above. “So how the hell do we defeat it?”

“First we wait for it to get close; then we try to blow it up.”

Helen nodded. “Pretty standard.”
