The packages Gunn and Reynolds had left, erupted with the sound of sporadic gunfire, altering acoustics to simulate changing locations of shooters. The darts hoped that with the smoke and the fact that the devices did not produce a heat signature, the hired guardsmen would not discover the ruse. They returned fire through the cloud; the building only a couple hundred feet away, now completely obscured from view.

The attack had felt like forever, but Jac knew that in the heat of battle, time slowed down; it really hadn’t been more than a couple of minutes since the initial gunshot.
