“Helen, are you injured?” Sprite asked, still watching the sky. Helen sat up and checked herself.
“I’m hurting, but I’m not hurt.”
Sprite nodded. “Stay close to Scotty. It won’t risk hurting him.”
“What the hell was that?” Helen asked, staring to the sky herself, watching for the next fireball.
“But don’t drop your wits,” Sprite continued. “If it has the chance for a precision shot, it’ll take it, no matter how close you keep Scotty.”
“Sprite!” Helen yelled. Sprite didn’t look at her, but she didn’t keep talking either. It would have to do. “What the hell was that?”
